Unfiltered Motherhood: Secret Mom Hacks by Krista Dykes

Secret Mom Hacks was birthed during my pregnancy in 2018, but I didn’t officially launch the podcast until earlier this year – March 2023. There were a number of unexpected curveballs during my pregnancy and the birth of my daughter. Each time I’d talk with another mom, it seemed like they experienced something similar and we’d commiserate over the lack of resources for parents.
So I decided to launch a podcast “because babies don’t come with instructions.” I am currently a one-woman-show doing everything behind-the-scenes – booking guests, brainstorming story ideas, hosting, recording, producing, editing, etc. I do it all! My listeners are moms looking for a relatable community of other moms who aren’t afraid to talk about all things #momlife.

When my daughter was only 6-months-old, I learned my (now ex-) husband was living a second life. He carried on affairs for nearly nine years, making decisions that ultimately led to him becoming a convicted felon. When the truth was uncovered, I knew divorce was the only answer. For a period of time, I was ashamed of the journey we’d been through.
Thanks to my child, my parents, a small circle of tight-knit friends, and my faith in Jesus, I managed to rise above our circumstances and slowly learn to trust again. Newly married, I’ve embraced my role as the mom of a blended family and hope to use my story to inspire other moms who have endured gaslighting and deception.

The Secret Mom Hacks community is a resilient group of supportive moms who are raising humans with grace and grit. The audience is encouraging and openly shares resources. Listeners expect real-talk, levity, and inspiration – knowing they’re not on this mom journey alone. They keep coming back for the fresh content, unique perspectives, and timely news items that are relevant to parents.

My podcast stands out from others because we’re covering all facets of #momlife. From pregnancy and birth to postpartum and beyond. We dive below the surface to discuss obstacles and resources pertaining to breastfeeding, breech births, toddler tantrums, mental/physical health, building your tribe, and everything in between.
