No BS Business School
I’m Jan – business educator, revenue coach and the Host of No BS Business School.
I help industry experts uncover the blind spots in their business and lean into their unique gifts, so they can take intentional action to scale their online revenue.
My podcast is my love letter to the gusty, unapologetically talented female entrepreneurs who listen, to help them stay inspired and keep moving in the right direction as they grow the online side of their business.
It’s also where I share everything I’ve learned about turning a 20+ real world career into a 6-figure online business, and how the women who listen to my show can do the same.
I turned the art of buying someone a $5 cup of coffee into a $20 million career. I had a 20+ year career as an award-winning business operations strategist and professional fundraiser.
When I decided to follow my dream of being my own boss, I struggled to grow my online business following the generic advice that seems to dominate this market.
So, I went back to using the tactics that I know so well from the real world and transferred them into the digital space, and my business took off online!
Now, I share that knowledge with other experts to help them scale up their online presence, in a way that’s tailored to their specific needs, rather than following generic trends or advice.
And let me tell you, if you’ve been a subject matter expert in the real world, you have a massive advantage when it comes to the online game. Unfortunately, that edge isn’t being shared enough, so I’m here to help!
Everything I teach on my podcast and to my clients, is based on my real-life experience of being responsible for over $20 million in revenue in my career and working with every level of expert from Grassroots, to Parliament Hill, to Hollywood.
My audience are real world industry experts who are trying to navigate the online business world without losing their money or their mind in the process.
The women who listen to my show are driven to create wealth and legacy from their unique gifts and are looking for the fluff-free strategies and action steps to make that happen.
I have a deep respect for my listeners and know how incredibly talented they are in their specific niche. My goal on the show is to be able to help them scale the online side of their business in a way that’s tailored to their unique needs, instead of just following generic trends or advice.
I think what keeps them coming back is that they know I’ll always tell it like it is, and that I already know they’re an expert. They deserve to learn from someone who is as well.
No BS Business School releases 3 episodes a week that focus on helping real world business owners and subject matter experts navigate the world of online marketing and digital sales….without losing their money or their mind in the process!
On my show, you’ll 2 short episodes a week filled with direct, concrete, actionable step-by-step tips on how to build the online side of your business, sell your programs or services more effectively and market yourself online authentically.
Plus, I’m also joined once a week by a special guest who is doing big things in business, talking about the ups and downs of life as an entrepreneur.
Think of my podcast as your trend-free cocktail hour convo with a good friend who understands the depth of your expertise and knows exactly how to translate that into a profitable online business without the BS. 🙂
Selling a podcast probably isn’t something most business owners think about when they start a show. But if your podcast is connected to your business, you may be building an asset with far more value than you realize.
In this episode, I’m joined by exit readiness strategist Amy Sussex to talk about what actually makes a podcast valuable—and whether selling a podcast is really possible. Amy and I have also been working together on the strategy behind her own show, looking at its positioning, discoverability, audience, and how the podcast connects to the larger business she’s building.
Because a podcast’s value isn’t necessarily sitting in its download numbers. It can live in the audience you’ve built, the intellectual property inside your catalogue, your brand and positioning, your podcast SEO and search visibility, your systems, and the relationship between the show and the revenue it helps create. That’s where podcast business strategy starts to look very different from simply trying to grow a bigger audience.
We also get into one of the most interesting questions for expert-led podcasts: what happens when the host is part of the value? Building authority around your expertise is exactly what we want your podcast to do, but there’s a difference between building something that is founder-led and something that is completely founder-dependent. If selling a podcast or eventually selling the larger business is even a possibility, that distinction matters.
And then there’s your back catalogue. If you’ve created 100, 200, or 300 episodes over the years, those aren’t necessarily just old audio files sitting in a feed. You may have built a searchable body of intellectual property that continues attracting listeners, establishing your expertise, and creating opportunities for your business long after an episode was published. That changes the conversation from how to monetize your podcast today to how you build something with lasting value.
Even if you have absolutely no intention of selling a podcast, this conversation matters. Building a show with clear positioning, owned assets, documented systems, strong intellectual property, and a real connection to your business can make the podcast more valuable to you right now. The question isn’t only how many people are listening. It’s what you’re actually building with their attention.
Amy is also one of 20+ Canadian experts joining me for The Canadian Entrepreneur Podcast Experience, September 28-30 We’re spending three days talking about growing your podcast audience, authority, and revenue, and Amy will be there teaching more about building value into the business behind your show.
